Looking for Musical Inspiration...

Help! I always thought I would be the mom who is constantly singing to her kids - play songs, lullabies, holiday tunes, etc. So now that little Franklin is here, my mind has suddenly gone blank! It's a good thing he loves the ABC song, because I am seriously lacking some musical inspiration!! Can anyone help? What are your favorite songs to sing to your kids? I'm particularly interested in any night-time lullabies that do not involve babies falling from trees.... Thanks!

Nicholas has recently switched from crib to "big boy" bed, which means that our collection of songs had to grow rapidly (yes, some are made up on the spot).

But, some of his favorites have been:
Bye Baby Bunting
Hush Little Baby
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Recently we've added the ABC song, the "meatball" song (On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed...), London Bridge, etc.

We're always on the lookout for new ones though...

This comment was left by MJ's mommy:

My little one loves all things Raffi. We have 4 CDs that we play over and
over and over and we have all the songs memorized. It's the only thing
that keeps her happy in the car and through the night. We also like Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star, Veggie Tales' God is Bigger than the Boogie Man:>,
Amazing Grace. For diaper changing, Old McDonald and the ABC's work
wonders. We also got a Toddler music cd from Target that has like 80
traditional kids songs like I'm a little teapot, Little Bunny FooFoo, etc.
We also just plain make up silly songs with silly words - have fun with it
- remember, nobody is watching you!

Since Maia's diapers have Seasame Street characters on them, I constantly find myself singing songs inspired by them during diaper changes. For example, when I pull out an Ernie diaper, I sing "Rubber Duckie, You're the one!" or when it pops up as Cookie Monster, the song becomes "C is for Cookie." There is one other for Elmo - called Elmo's song. It's random, but we turn it into "Maia's song."

I sing Rainbow Connection (courtesy of the Muppet Movie) to Maddie every night before bed. Sarah McLaughan sings a great version of it that you can download on iTunes. Of course, Kermit the Frog also sings a nice version which you can see on You Tube!
